Wearables count the steps you have taken, the calories you have burned, and your heart rate. They keep track of everything that’s happening inside you. Now here’s a wearable that gives you the skinny on the environment around you. The TZOA Enviro-Tracker records temperature, humidity, air quality, atmospheric pressure, UV light strength, and ambient light wherever you go.

The clip-on TZOA Enviro-Tracker is about the size of a shiny silver dollar. It is tiny, but it packs in a powerful suspended particulate matter sensor that sniffs the air around you and provides information on the harmful allergens and pollutants in it. This sensor was designed with know-how from the EPA, and the accuracy of the data provided by the TZOA device closely matches that recorded by governmental sensors.

This smart device not only dishes out the numbers but also warns you when you have to get outside for a bout of fresh air or need to turn on overhead fan in the kitchen. The EPA says that indoor air quality may be 2 to 5 times and sometimes, even 100 times poorer than what is found outside. The makers of Enviro-Tracker paid heed to this report when they designed their device.

The device has to be connected to your smartphone or tablet either wirelessly or via an USB port for you to see the information and the alerts.

What’s In It For You?

The Enviro-Tracker by TZOA delivers real-time reports of the environment. With this data, you can now plan your walk or jog routes, so you are not compelled to breathe in polluted air. Home- and business-owners can use this device to keep tab on the air quality inside their establishments. This nifty tracking device does all the number-crunching for you. With the detailed reports in hand, you can figure out if the kitchen chimney needs an overhaul, is the AC working the way it should, or whether you need another air purifier.

The Enviro-Tracker lets you share data with other users, so you can crowdsource to build a large database for the environment in your neighborhood without having to visit every nook and cranny in person. With growing concerns over the state of the environment, this data would serve as a reality check and motivate you and others to adopt positive measures to clean up the air we breathe.

This device also has the potential to help businesses that manufacture environmental products or provide “green” services. The detailed reports will let product designers and service providers gauge the needs of the customers accurately and address the challenges faced by the environment to provide more value.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Right now, the TZOA Enviro-Tracker is available for pre-ordering at early-bird prices from the manufacturer’s website. They will be shipped from the fourth quarter of 2015. It will eventually help people connect to their environments, be mindful of the changes taking place, and take appropriate action for the sake of their health and to preserve the purity of Nature.
