In case you hadn’t already noticed- it’s wedding season! Even though it’s a busy time for wedding photographers, we were able to sit down with Rikki Ward from Rikki Ward Photography. Catch some snidbits below or watch the whole interview:
Her gear:
Canon EOS 6d camera
Canon 5d Mark III
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II lens
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L II lens
What are the most difficult scenes to shoot?
I think that in my style of photography, I like to be as unobtrusive as possible and I want to capture the moments between people and sometimes flash can interrupt that. The Mark III is really awesome for low light situations, you can shoot natural, available light without interrupting the scene with a flash.
What do you love about wedding photography?
I love being part of such an important day. Seeing all of the emotions and interactions between people. Every wedding is a story, and I love being able to tell that story.
Any advice you would give to a photographer starting out?
Shoot everything, shoot whatever you can and don’t be afraid to fail. Just try everything. No matter if you think that’s something that you want to pursue or not, the skills that you learn will apply to another thing later on.
