It’s down to the wire, or wax in this case. Voting for the next “Tech Innovator” to be immortalized at the famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum located on San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf came to a close May 19th.  After hosting the open nominations, April 14th – April 23rd, Madame Tussauds narrowed the candidates down to 10 famous technological innovators who received the most nominations. Over the last several weeks, Americans feverishly voted for their favorite nominee and soon we will know the next Tech Innovator to take the coveted position.

For those of you who’ve never heard of Madame Tussauds – it’s a world-famous wax museum with a San Francisco location that is known for turning Silicon Valley tech giants, like Steve Jobs, into unbelievably realistic wax figures. The winner of this contest will join the ranks of Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs, as well as other brilliant icons that have made incredible contributions to the world of technology.

The top 10 contenders are (and in no particular order):

Elon Musk of Tesla and SpaceX

Steve Wozniak of Apple

Frank Oppenheimer of Exploratorium

Jane Metcalfe of Wired Magazine

Edwin Catmull of Pixar

Marc Benioff of Salesforce

George Lucas of Lucasfilm

Lawrence “Larry” Page of Google

Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook

Marissa Mayer of Yahoo

And the famous nominees have definitely paid attention during the voting process. Jane Metcalfe of Wired Magazine posted this comment on Facebook, “Apparently someone is considering me — or Elon Musk, Sheryl Sandberg, Marc Benioff, and Ed Catmull – for wax figure status. You can’t make this stuff up! Vote now!”

Steve Wozniak also posted his thoughts on the nomination Twitter, “I need your votes. I remember how cool it was when I saw Mark Knopfler’s statue in a wax museum in London.”

The Tech Innovator’s people’s poll winner will be announced May 26, 2015. Check Madame Tussauds’ website or facebook page for the latest updates.
